Downside of a distraction is that many times you won’t know if it was a distraction that derailed your progress until after the fact.
If you don’t know where you want to go and what you wish to achieve, most activities look like distractions and probably will be a distraction.
But we want advice we can use, right?
When we have a clear vision of where we want to take our business and who we are serving, then new initiatives can be compared to whether it will serve our market better and get the business closer to the vision.
If it doesn’t do those two things, it is probably a distraction.
